Get Involved
Our short term aim is to raise money to fund Michael Reynolds and his crew to go out to Haiti as described in the About Us page. Our medium term aim is to train people from our community to go too.
Getting involved is something that will be unique for everyone. You may want to contribute financially, which you can do here. You may want to share some ideas with us. You may want to offer up your time and energy, or share your skills with us. You may even want to teach and empower others to help achieve our objective.
What we are most interested in is ideas, time, energy and skills. We are looking for people who can organise fundraisers, people with skills they can teach and share, and people who are willing to learn, share and go and act!
Specifically we are looking for land we can use to build ‘Earthships’ (eco houses) as trials for training volunteers. We are looking for volunteers with an interest or skills in sustainable construction to act as trainers and of course we want volunteers who want to be trained to go over to Haiti.
In order to achieve our aims we need a multitude of skills and knowledge. We hope that through connecting with people who have these we will get the right support and be able to achieve what we aim to do with little or no cost. We want to attract people who understand what we are trying to achieve so ‘spreading the word’ is very important too, this can be done through your social and business networks.
The key for us is that we want people to contribute whatever they feel comfortable with, so their time is sustainable, not asking too much of any one person and sharing the load so the whole process is a pleasure and not a burden. We aim to build a very positive network within our community to do this and we are not in a rush. When the £90 Million that has been raised in this country alone for Haiti has been spent and the soldiers and charities have all left we will be there helping to rebuild communities in the most sustainable ways for a far brighter future.
If you have any ideas or simply want to ask some questions to get the ball rolling, please e mail us at hi@sustainablesupport.co.uk. Alternatively please go to the profiles section here and call or mail one of us !
